Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Guideline study. Extended OECD 301D study with substance specific analysis, performed 2020, GLP
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 301 D (Ready Biodegradability: Closed Bottle Test)
Version / remarks:
Extended to 60 days to investigate inherent biodegradation
Test material analysis performed to investigate possible transformation products
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Commercial grade material
Oxygen conditions:
aerobic
Inoculum or test system:
activated sludge, non-adapted
Duration of test (contact time):
60 d
Initial conc.:
> 2 - < 5 mg/L
Based on:
act. ingr.
Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation:
DOC removal
Reference substance:
benzoic acid, sodium salt
Parameter:

Value:
ca. 8
Sampling time:
14 d
Parameter:
% degradation (DOC removal)
Value:
ca. 0
Sampling time:
35 d
Parameter:
% degradation (DOC removal)
Value:
ca. 0
Sampling time:
60 d
Details on results:
The toxicity control indicated no inhibition of the control substance.
The reference substance acheived minimum requirements for validiation, with 62% after 14 days

Analysis for the test substance demonstrated no transformation with a high level recovery of the substance at the end of the 60 day exposure period.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed
Conclusions:
Although some of the test bottles demonstrated some biodegradation, this was not considered significant.
There appears to be no transformation of the product by abiotic processes within thhis test system.

Description of key information

An extended Closed Bottle test has been performed for 60 days and analysis performed to determine formation of tranformation products through biological or abbiotic processes.

There was no significant biodegradation and no detection of transformation products.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
not biodegradable
Type of water:
freshwater
