Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
The toxicity of the substance Basacryl-brilliantrot x 4G to microorganisms was investigated in an oxygen consumption test using Pseudomonas putida by the test method of Robra. In this study cultures of bacteria (Pseudomonas putida) were exposed to nominal test substance concentrations of 0 (control), 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/L. Test concentrations were not analytically verified. Bacterial oxygen consumption rate (mg/L·min) was determined and compared to a blank control. A concentration-dependent decrease in oxygen consumption rate was observed. At a test concentration of 62.5 mg/L 8.3% inhibition of oxygen consumption rate was recorded. At higher test concentrations the inhibition was >10% and therefore the EC0 value with 10% tolerance was determined at 62.5 mg/L. This value may be considered the EC10.
