- Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min. Occasionally lift up the upper and lower eyelids.

- Ingestion : If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious).

Note to physician : treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media : Alcohol resistant foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water spray.

Special hazards arising from the substance: nitrogen oxides, carbon oxides, hydrogen bromide gas.

Protection against fire : if necessary, use an autonomous respiratory protection for the fire control.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section Exposure controls and personal precaution. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Avoid inhaling vapors, fogs of pulverizing or gases. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personel to safe places.

Environmental precautions : Do not let the chemical enter the environment.

Clean up methods : Collect and evacuate without creating dust. Sweep and deprive of the shovel. Keep in bowls adapted and closed for the elimination. Keep in suitable and closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Storage : Store in tightly closed, properly ventilated containers. Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area.

Handling : Avoid any contact with skin and eyes.  Do not breathe gas, fumes, vapour or spray. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Provide adequate ventialtion where dust is formed. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Industrial hygiene : Use adequate ventilation to keep airbone conentrations low . Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Personal protection :

- Respiratory protection : For nuisance exposures, use type P95 (US) or type P(EU EN143) particle respirator. For higher protection level, use type OV/AG/P99 (US) or type ABEK-P2 (EU EN143) respirator cartridges. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) and CEN (EU).

- Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves resistant to chemical penetration.

- Skin protection : Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concentration and amount of dangerous substance, and to the spcific workplace. The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

- Eye protection : Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN 166. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) and CEN (EU).

This substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Reach regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate.
