Based on a GLP-compliant study following UN method N4, this substance is classified as Self-heating category 1 (H251) as the temperature of palladium (II) di(4-oxopent-2-en-2-oate) was determined to exceed the oven temperature by 60°C during the initial 24 hours testing period at 140 °C.

This substance is classified as Flammable solid category 1 (H228) based on a GLP-compliant study following UN method N1. In the main flammability study, the pile ignited and burnt with a stable, yellow-orange flame, which propagated along the 100mm length, after an initial burning distance of 80mm in 34 seconds. Residue was dark grey ash. wetted zone failed to hold up the flame propagation.
