Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in a stable sideways position (recovery position). Immediately remove contaminated clothing.
IF INHALED
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler.
ON SKIN CONTACT
Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.
ON CONTACT WITH EYES
Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.
ON INGESTION
Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml or water, seek medical attention.
INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Use extinguishing measures to suit surroundings.
SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE
At temperatures of 370°C chlorides can be emitted. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released if the product is involved in a fire.
ADVICE FOR FIRE-FIGHTERS
Special protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.
Further information: Product itself is non-combustible; fire extinguishing method of surrounding areas must be considered. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Avoid dust formation. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Use personal protective clothing.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.
METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP
Avoid raising dust. Sweep up or vacuum small pieces and dusts and place in appropriate container for disposal. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations. Reclaim for processing if possible.
Handling and storage
PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable gloves and eye/face protection.
CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES
Segregate from strong oxidising agents. Segregate from flammable substances. Segregate from acids.
Suitable materials for containers: glass, high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE), stainless steel 1.4306 (V2A), polypropylene (PP).
Further information on storage conditions: Containers should be stored tightly sealed in a dry place.

Exposure controls / personal protection
CONTROL PARAMETERS
Components with occupational exposure limits: No occupational exposure limits known
PNECs: No PNEC value available
DNELs: No DNEL value available
EXPOSURE CONTROLS - PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- Respiratory protection: Respiratory protection in case of release of decomposition products. Gas filter for acid inorganic gases/vapours such as SO2, HCl (e.g. EN 14387 Type E).
- Hand protection: Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact Protective index 6, corresponding to >480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374 recommended; e.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm), etc.
- Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles (cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.
- Body protection: Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).
GENERAL SAFETY AND HYGIENE MEASURES
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Eye wash fountains and safety showers must be easily accessible. Store work clothing separately. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift.
Stability and reactivity
- Reactivity: No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated
- Chemical stability: The product is chemically stable
- Possibility of hazardous reactions: The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.
- Conditions to avoid: Avoid heat. Avoid humidity.
- Incompatible materials: Avoid strong oxidising agents, acids.
- Hazardous decomposition products: chlorides.
Disposal considerations
WASTE TREATMENT METHODS - PRODUCT
Dispose of in accordance with national, state and local regulations. Used catalysts may have different hazardous properties than the original products.
