Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information
The registered substance is a multi-constituent substance which includes acetic acid at ca. 36% (w/w). Acetic acid (CAS 64-19-7) is classified as corrosive to skin and eye according to Annex VI of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (Skin Corr. 1A; H314). Taking into account the content of free acetic acid and the specific concentration limits for acetic acid concerning corrosive properties, the registered substance is assessed to be corrosive to skin and eyes.
The publication of Björnberg A. and Mobacken H. (1972) described a test on skin irritation/corrosion properties of the test substance. Guinea pigs were used as a test model. Five animals were first shaved with an electrical razor. Then the skin on the side of the body was stripped vertically. The test substance in a saturated solution (concentration 2 %) was applied horizontally on the stripped skin. For control, two areas were stripped but no substance was applied and two areas were not stripped and substance was applied. Application was repeated daily for three consecutive days. Skin biopsies were taken 72 h after beginning of the experiment.
After treatment of shaved and stripped skin of guinea pigs a reaction to a 2 % concentration of the test substance was observed. The epidermal structure was disrupted and inflammatory infiltrates into the dermis were observed. Application on skin areas that were shaved but not stripped led to a slight inflammatory response.
Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: corrosive
Effects on eye irritation: corrosive
Justification for classification or non-classification
The registered substance is a multi-constituent substance which contains acetic acid at ca. 36%. Acetic acid (CAS 64-19-7) is classified as corrosive to skin and eye according to Annex VI of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (Skin Corr. 1A; H314). Taking into account the specific concentration limits for acetic acid, classification of the registered substance with Skin Corr. 1B; H314 is warranted under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (SCL: 25% ≤ C < 90%).
