Abiotic degradation:Hydrolysis as a function of pH was determined according to OECD TG 111. This study showed that the substance is stable in basic or neutral solutions (half life > 1 year at pH 7 and 9) but hydrolyses significantly in acidic conditions (half life: 7.54 days at pH 4).
Biodegradation: In a Ready Biodegradability study (OECD 301 B), Chiguard 5530 was assessed over a 28 day period. The test material was observed a biodegradation of 12% after 28 days. These results indicate that Chiguard 5530 is not readily biodegradable under conditions of the test. Simulation test in water and sediment and further more biodegradation tests are not required at the tonnage level of below 100 tonns per annual year according to the data requirement of REACH.
Bioaccumulation potential: There is no information about the bioaccumulation potential about the substance.
Transport and distribution of the substance in the environment:According to the level III fugacity model from EPISUITE v4.00, the substance would be distributed between the four environmental compartments, air (0.497%), water (22.2%), soil (77.1%) and sediment (0.173%) with half-lives of 12 hours (air), 360 hours (water), 720 hours (soil) and 3240 hours (sediment).
