Following CLP, the substance is not to be classified as acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment.

 

Rationale:

The substance is not to be classified as acutely hazardous to the aquatic environment since the lowest available acute effect value is > 1 mg/L (aquatic algae: 72-h ErC50 = 19.8 mg/L, measured, BASF SE, 2014).

 

Long-term aquatic hazard

Following CLP, the substance is not to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment.

 

Rationale:

Acute toxicity data are only available for aquatic invertebrates and algae; chronic data are only available for algae. Therefore, the classification is based on the available chronic and acute toxicity data:

Chronic toxicity data:

The only available chronic toxicity data are on aquatic (72-h ErC10 = 5.92 mg/L, measured, BASF SE, 2014). The substance is rapidly biodegradable. According to the criteria outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (ii) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) the substance is not to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment.

 

Acute toxicity data:

Aquatic invertebrates is the trophic level not covered by chronic toxicity data; therefore, the assessment is based on the available acute data (48-h EC50 = 27.9 mg/L, measured, BASF SE, 2014). The substance is rapidly degradable; the log Kow is < 4. According to the criteria outlined in Table 4.1.0(b) (iii) (Commission Regulation (EU) No 286/2011 amending Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) the substance is not to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment.

- Conclusion: The substance is not to be classified as chronically hazardous to the aquatic environment.

 

Atmospheric compartment

The test substance is not listed in Annex 1 of Regulation (EC) 2037/2000 on substances that deplete the ozone layer.
