Description of key information

The test substance is not classified as flammable solids.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test substance is not classified as flammable solids (Yang Xu, 2015).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammable solids:

The test substance ignites for a maximum of 2 minutes. The combustion does not propagate 200 mm of the train within the 2 minutes test period.

Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Table 2.7.1, the substance shall not be classified as flammable solid.

Pyrophoric solids:

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.10.4.1, the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied when experience in manufacture or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures (i.e. the substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days)). As the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days), so the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids does not need to be applied.

Substances and mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases:

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.12.4.1 (a), the classification procedure for this class need not be applied if the chemical structure of the substance or mixture does not contain metals or metalloids. As no metals or metalloids present in the molecule of this substance, so the classification procedure for this class need not be applied for this substance.
