Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In the EU RAR (2001; section 4.1.2.5, page 56) it was concluded that cumene did not cause any signs of skin sensitisation in the tests conducted.

Experimental studies

No skin sensitisation was noted among a group of 20 female guinea pigs treated with cumene in a Magnusson-Kligman maximisation test conducted according to OECD Guideline 406 (see robust study summaries in IUCLDI Section 7.4.1). For induction 0.1 cm³ of a 10% test solution was tested and for challenge the concentration was 40%.

Human data

No information is available.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
As a result of an OECD Guideline study cumene is not sensitising.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
Regarding respiratory sensitisation there is no information available.
