Ready biodegradability tests for several alkyl sulfates are available. Based on the results of screening tests for biodegradation in water it can be concluded that alkyl sulfates with carbon chain length of C8-C18 are readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (OECD SIDS 2007).
Three reliable ready biodegradability tests are available for C12-14AS TEA (CAS 90583-18-9) performed according to EU method C.4-A (Diefenbach 1995), modified OECD screening test (Richterich 1991) and OECD 301 E (Henkel, 1999). All three tests show ready biodegradation of the test substance.
