Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate promptly with water.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water mist, foam and carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur together with hydrogen chloride gas and

soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be used.

(Dust clouds may be flammable).

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Solids: Sweep-up and transfer to waste containers for

disposal at an approved landfill site.

Solutions: Absorb spillages using sand or other suitable

absorbent material, sweep-up and transfer to waste

containers for disposal at an approved landfill site.

In all cases, wash down the area with water after clearing

spillage.

Handling and storage

Handling: Normal standards of good housekeeping to avoid ingestion,

skin and eye contact and inhalation of dust should be

followed. Respirators should be used if dust is generated

and adequate local ventilation is not available.

Storage: No special precautions.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or effluent from the dyeing

process is not economically feasible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, the substance has no known hazardous

effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance may be disposed of by burying at an approved

landfill site.

If discharge of waste solutions to watercourses is

necessary, the substance should be diluted to a

concentration of 100 mg/l or lower.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration is possible, a minimum temperature

of 950 deg C is recommended. Waste gas treatment to remove

nitrogen and sulphur oxides together with any hydrogen

chloride gas that may be formed should be used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is unlikely to have any adverse effects on

aerobic and anaerobic processes at a sewage works. It is

totally decolourised under anaerobic conditions (no trace of

colour in supernatant at the end of the experiment). It may

be absorbed on to sewage sludge.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance cannot be removed from articles.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Articles containing the substance may be disposed of as

domestic waste.
