- Conclusions:
- The Density of GALDEN LMW is determined to be between 1.6623 g/cm3 and 1.6934 g/cm3.
- Executive summary:
The purpose of the test was to evaluate the density of GALDEN LMW using a digital density meter. Measurements were made in compliance with ASTM D4052 method “Standard Test Method for Density, Relative Density, and API Gravity of Liquids by Digital Density Meter”.
According to the method, density was determined by injecting a small volume of Galden Low Molecular Weight into an oscillating sample tube. The change in the oscillating frequency caused by the change in the mass of the tube in combination with the calibration was used to determine the density of the liquid.
Refer to ASTM D4052 method for details.
Measurements were performed on six different batches of Galden Low Molecular Weight at 20°C.
The Density of GALDEN LMW is determined to be between 1.6623 g/cm3 and 1.6934 g/cm3.

- Executive summary:
The scope of the publication was to analyse perfluoropolyethers (PFPEs) from the point of view of their synthetic chemistry, properties, derivates, and applications. The focus of the publication is on PFPE fluids commercially named FOMBLIN and GALDEN and the information gleaned from first-hand experience are reported. FOMBLIN and GALDEN belong to the same class of PFPEs, the principal difference between the two families is the molecular weight since GALDEN represents the low molecular weight fraction of FOMBLIN. Both of FOMBLIN and GALDEN are fluids at standard conditions.
In the publication the chemical and physical properties of several commercial products of the GALDEN fraction are reported. GALDEN LMW, which itself represents the low molecular weight fraction of the GALDEN fraction is also described with the commercial name of GALDEN HT 70.
The Density of GALDEN LMW, experimentally determined at 25°C, is reported to be 1.68 g/cm3.

- Executive summary:
The statement reports the typical values of GALDEN LMW density, determined basing on internal experimental measurements.
At 20°C, the value of density of Galden® HT55 and Galden® HT70 is the following:
• Galden® HT55 = 1.66 g/cm3
• Galden® HT70 = 1.68 g/cm3
Galden LMW is a multi-contituent substance. The density variability is consistent with the difference in concentration of the individual constituents.

Description of key information
The Density of Galden LMW ranges between 1.6623 and 1.6934 g/cm3, depending on difference in concentration of the individual constituents.
The average value of density = 1.6760 g/cm3 obtained in the key study for the grades GALDEN HT55 and GALDEN HT70 has been set as key value for risk assessment purpose.

Additional information
Experimental measurements performed on different batches of GALDEN LMW, values deriving from historical measurements and a literature reference are reported.
The sources are all considered reliable and the reported values are consistent.
The reported values of density range from 1.6623 and 1.6934 g/cm3.
Galden LMW is a multi-constituent substance. Two grades of Galden LMW are manufactured, which contain the same perfluorinated constituents and differ only in the relative concentration of the constituents. The density variability is consistent with the difference in concentration of the individual constituents.
The average value of density = 1,6760 g/cm3 obtained in the key study for the grades GALDEN HT55 and GALDEN HT70 has been set as key value for risk assessment purpose.
