Results and discussion
- Results:
- Appearance before test : White to off white solid.
Appearance after test : Solid dark orange material with some unchanged powder around the edges, with a large amount of the material on the oven floor.
No ignition was observed during the course of the study.
Any other information on results incl. tables
An exothermic event was observed with the sample reaching a temperature of 142.3°C by the end of the 24 hour period. The sample was held isothermally for a further 12.4 hours and the exotherm was observed to continue with the sample reaching a peak temperature of 282.3°C. Since the sample temperature did not reach 200°C (i.e. 60°C above the oven temperature) within the required 24 hour period, the observed exotherm does not meet the criteria for an ignition. The sample is therefore not classified as a self-heating substance of Class 4, Division 4.2.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- It has been determined that ADTP should not be classified as a self-heating substance of Class 4, Division 4.2.
- Executive summary:
A GLP-compliant study has been conducted according to The United Nations Recommendations on the Tranhsoprtation of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria for substances of Class 4, Division 4.2. It has been determined that ADTP should not be classified as a self-heating substance of Class 4, Division 4.2 as no ignition was observed.
