Description of key information

In a reliable study (OECD guideline 209; K1) the substance was not found to have a significant inhibitory effect on respiration rate of activated sludge at 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L

Additional information

In a 3h acute toxicity test, activated domestic sewage sludge was exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0, 10, 30, 100, 300 and 1000 mg/L. 3, 5-dichlorophenol was used as reference substance (positive control) at 3, 10 and 32 mg/L (nominal concentration). The study was performed according to the OECD Guideline No 209 (1984) under GLP. The test substance had no significant inhibitory effect on respiration rate at the highest loading rate tested (1000 mg/L).
