Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and protective firefighting clothing (includes firefighting helmet, coat, pants, boots and gloves). If protection equipment is not available or not used, fight fire from a protected location or safe distance.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

In case of accidental release of a large volume, clear all personnel from area. Do not breathe vapors. Ventilate area of leak or spill. Wear protective equipment including positive pressure self-contained or air supplied breathing apparatus. Follow confined space entry procedures if applicable, ASTM D-4276 and OSHA 29CFR 1910.146.

Exposure controls

Eye/face protection: wear safety goggles with side shields. Contact lenses should not be exposed. If vapor exposure causes eye discomfort, use a full-face respirator.

Skin protection: wear solvent-resistant gloves such as Viton, polyvinyl alcohol, or equivalent.

Respiratory protection: for nuisance exposures use type P95 (US) or type P1 (EU EN 143) particle respirator. For higher level protection use type OV/AG/P99 (US) or type ABEK-P2 (EU EN 143) respirator cartridges. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Body Protection: wear protective equipment according to general hygiene practice.
