Individual Results – Surface Tension

Two aqueous solutions in distilled water of the test item with a concentration of 1003.4 mg/L and

1013.0 mg/L were prepared by using the ultrasonic bath for 15 minutes and stirring 2 h at room temperature. The measurement was carried out at 20 °C. A correction factor (Harkins & Jordan) has been accounted.

Mean (experiments 1 to 2): 61.47 mN/m

The mean value, multiplied by the calibration factor (F=1.0079) yields to:

σ   = σ mean  F =   61.95 mN/m

Final Result – Surface Tension

The surface tension of the test substance was determined according to guideline 92/69/ EEC method A.5. and OECD guideline 115. According to the EEC guideline a solution of 1000 mg/L has been prepared, due to the fact that the water solubility of the test subatance is above 1000 mg/L.

The surface tension of the test substance is: 61.95 mN/m.

Description of key information

The surface tension is 61.95 mN/m at 20 °C for a concentration of 1000 mg/L (OECD 115, OECD harmonised ring method)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
61.95
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
