Based on a review of the ecotoxicity values from the acute fish, daphnid, and algal studies, 2-nitropropane exhibited acute toxicity (LC/EC50) values ranging from 19 to >887 mg/L. The most sensitive of the three trophic levels to 2-nitropropane was the aquatic invertebrates, where the daphnid,Daphnia magna, was clearly the most sensitive species by a factor of at least 32-fold. The EC50 forDaphnia magnawas 19 mg 2-nitropropane/L. The NOEC was 5.9 mg 2-nitropropane/L.
