Template for use maps: testing started

Five industry associations and several companies and consultants have volunteered to test an improved template for use maps. The aim is to improve the dialogue between downstream users and registrants on how substances are used.

The template will help downstream users associations to make available information on uses to registrants. This helps registrants to prepare structured and comprehensive chemical safety assessments as part of their registration dossiers. Downstream users will then receive information in their extended safety data sheets that they can easily recognise and compare with their own situations of use.

The testing was kicked-off with a webinar with the testers and will be ongoing until end October. The results will be presented at ENES7 (18-19 November) for discussion and recommendations on the next steps.  Publication of the template and guidelines on its use is anticipated in the first half of 2015.
