National Inspectorates - Croatia

The responsibility for enforcement of REACH and CLP in Croatia is placed within Department for chemicals and biocidal producst in Directorate for Sanitary Inspection. Directorate for Sanitary Inspection is part of Ministry of Health.

The enforcement of REACH and CLP in Croatia is implemented under the Act of Chemicals („Narodne novine" br. 18/2013) and Implementation acts on REACH and CLP.

Authorities responsible for REACH enforcement

Department for chemicals and biocidal products carries out inspection of producers and importers of substances and mixtures. County sanitary inspectors carry out inscpection of downstream users of substances and mixtures.

The Labour inspection controlls provision regarding information to workers.

The Croatian REACH helpdesk is under Department for chemicals and biocidal products.

Authorities responsible for CLP enforcement

Department for chemicals and biocidal products carries out inspection of classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures by primarly suppliers placing substances and mixtures on the market.

The Croatan CLP helpdesk is under Croatia Institute for Toxicology.

Authorities responsible for Biocides enforcement

The responsibility for enforcement of BPR in Croatia is placed within Department of Chemicals and Biocidal Products in the Department for Sanitary Inspection. Directorate for Sanitary Inspection is part of the Ministry of Health. Sanitary inspectors check compliance with BPR for all product types of biocidal products and also for treated articles.

There are two level of inspection, at the state and county level. The work of the inspectors in counties is coordinated and supported by state sanitary inspection.
