ECHA has assessed how to make tattoo inks safer
At the request of the European Commission, ECHA has assessed the safety of pigments used in tattoo inks. ECHA is not proposing to ban tattoos, nor all green and blue tattooing colours. The Agency submitted its scientific opinions to the Commission in June 2019, and the Commission will discuss it with Member States in February.

Call for evidence on possible restriction of substances of concern in single-use nappies for infants and children

The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) announced its intention to propose a restriction of PAHs, furans, dioxins, PCBs and formaldehyde in single-use nappies for infants and children.
We will host a call for evidence to support the preparation of the proposal. The call for evidence starts in January 2020 and closes on 31 March 2020.
This information session is intended to clarify the scope of ANSES’ investigation and answer your questions related to the call for evidence. It is most useful for those planning to provide information for the preparation of the restriction proposal.

The submission of the Annex XV restriction report on lead chromate; lead sulfochromate yellow (C.I. Pigment Yellow 34) and lead chromate molybdate sulphate red (C.I. Pigment Red 104) by ECHA has been postponed until 3 April 2020.

Authorisations granted for use of chromium trioxide
The European Commission has granted an authorisation for chromium trioxide (EC 215-607-8, CAS 1333-82-0) for one use to Doosan Electro-Materials Luxembourg SARL and Doosan Energy Solution Kft. The review period expires on 10 January 2032.
