Call for evidence: alkanes, C14-17, chloro
The European Commission has requested ECHA to prepare an Annex XV SVHC proposal for alkanes, C14-17, chloro for submission in February 2021.
Identification of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) may lead to further risk management through restriction, ECHA is requesting interested parties to submit information on uses (e.g. volumes, releases etc), the potential for substitution and the socio-economic impacts of substitution.
This call for evidence consultation is open until 15 December 2020.

Network of socio-economic experts discussed impacts of REACH authorisation
Nearly 90 experts of the Network of REACH Socio-economic analysis and Analysis of alternatives practitioners (NeRSAP) met online on 20 October 2020 and 5 November 2020 to share their experiences on the authorisation system. They discussed what has worked well, where the system could develop, and gave their concrete proposals for improvements in the future.
NeRSAP brings together regulators at ECHA, the European Commission and in Member States with industry, NGOs and consultants to discuss implementation of chemicals management in the EU.

Stakeholders invited to discuss use of lead in fishing tackle
We are holding a virtual round table for fishing tackle suppliers, trade and fishing associations, NGOs and academic institutions on 18 October to raise awareness of the REACH restriction proposal concerning lead in ammunition and fishing. The event is by invitation only. The aim is to engage with a stakeholder group that is not so familiar with ECHA nor the restriction process.
A summary of the discussions and presentations will be published after the event.
The restriction proposal will be submitted by 15 January 2021. A wide stakeholder consultation is expected to start in March or April 2021.
