Details on results:
The maximum difference of the concentrations determined in the 24, 48 and 72 hour test samples was >15%. Since furthermore three centrifugation steps proved not sufficient to remove all undissolved test item (solubility was 0.619 mg/L after 3 centrifugation steps and 0.392 mg/L after 4 centrifugation steps) and more accurate results cannot be obtained, it was decided to report the n-octanol solubility of the test item as a ≤ value (i.e. ≤ 0.0008 g/L). The Pow, calculated as the quotient of the n-octanol- and water solubility, is ≤ 9.4  10-7. It corresponds with a log Pow value of ≤ -6.0. No test item was detected in the pretreated sample from the blank n-octanol mixture.

Stirring time [hours]  Analyzed concentration [g/L]
 24  0.000619
 48  0.000778
 72  0.000633
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be ≤ 9.4 x 10^-7, log Pow value of ≤ -6.0.

Description of key information

The estimation method was applied for the determination of the partition coefficient (Pow) of 1,4 piperazinediethanesulfonic acid disodium salt.

The Pow value of the test item at 20°C was ≤ 9.4 x 10^-7 .

It corresponds with a log Pow value of ≤ -6.0.
