PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method: A saturated solution of 1000 mg/L was prepared four days prior to test start. The test item was placed by pipetting on the surface of the dilution water. The homogeneous phase was taken from the bottom and was used for testing. The saturated solution was further diluted with a dilution factor of 2.

Reported statistics and error estimates:
EC10, EC20 and EC50-values with confidence intervals of growth rate and yield inhibition after 72 hours were calculated by sigmoidal dose-response regression. The NOEC and LOEC were determined by calculation of statistically significant differences of growth rates and yield. As a standard, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Dunnett ’s test were used for NOEC/LOEC calculations. When running a One Way Analysis of Variance, a Normality test and an Equal Variance test were done first. P-values for both Normality and Equal Variance tests are 0.05. The a-value (acceptable probability of incorrectly concluding that there is a difference) is a=0.05.

The measured concentrations of the test substance in the fresh media (0 h) were 0.163 - 0.331 - 0.668 - 1.36 - 2.99 mg/L. The measured concentrations in the old media with algae (72 h) were in the range of 76 to 107 % of the initially measured values of all concentrations (0 h). The geometric mean measured concentrations was determined. Additionally, the measured concentrations in old media (72 h) without algae were in the range of 82 - 99% of the initially measured values of all concentrations (0 h).

Additional information

One experimental study is available investigating the toxicity of the test substance to aquatic algae (2015). The study was performed according to OECD 201 (GLP) with the freshwater algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. Test concentrations of 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100% of a saturated solution including a test medium control were tested under static test conditions. The corresponding geometric mean of measured concentrations was 0.142, 0.293, 0.661, 1.32, 3.10 mg/L (GC-MS analysis). An inhibition of growth and yield was recorded. The ErC10 (72 h) and ErC50 (72 h) were calculated at 1.04 mg/L (95% CI: 0.865 - 1.19 mg/L) and 2.47 mg/L (95% CI: 2.09 - 2.75 mg/L) based on growth rate, respectively. For inhibition of yield an EyC10 (72 h) of 0.689 mg/L (95% CI: 0.516 - 0.850 mg/L) and an EyC50 (72 h) of 1.31 mg/L (95% CI: 1.10 - 1.65 mg/L) were calculated. All validity criteria were met.
