Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity to algae was assessed exposing algae under static conditions to a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. The EC50 was calculated to be > 100 mg/L (nominal, limit concentration). The NOEC was greater or equal 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The purpose of this test was to determine the inhibitory effect of the test substance DL-Panthenol on the growth of the freshwater green algal species Selenastrum capricornutum according to EU-method C.3 and OECD guideline 201.Exponentially growing cultures of this green algal species were exposed to the test substance under static conditions. The resulting 72-hour EC50 was > 100 mg/L (nominal concentration) and the NOEC was greater or equal to 100 mg/L (nominal). Thus, the test demonstrated that the test substance has no toxic effect on algae.
