Description of key information

Based on the chemical structure the substance was considered to have no explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the explosive properties of test item DL-Panthenol. Even if the oxygen balance is slightly above -200 (here -196), it can be concluded, based on the results of the DSC test and due to the missing of chemical groups associated with explosive properties, that DL-Panthenol should not be considered as an explosive material and no experimental determination according to the EC test guideline A.14 has to be performed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results obtained from testing the substance was not classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD).
