During the heating phase a first endothermic effect was observed in the temperature range of 220 – 270 °C, which could be assigned to the melting of the test item. A second endothermic effect was observed in the temperature range of 280 – 390 °C.

Optical verification using the capillary method:


To verify the results of the DSC measurement, three additional measurements in melting capillaries were performed in the temperature range of 180 °C to 290 °C at a heating rate of 10 K/min. The test item melted and turned brown starting at a temperature of approx. 220 °C. At a temperature of 240 °C the test item was completely molten and dark brown.


Due to this result, the first endothermic effect can be assigned to the melting of the test item accompanied by its decomposition. It confirms that the test item has no boiling point up to its decomposition starting at approx. 230 °C.

Conclusions:
The test item Glycyl glycine (CAS no. 556-50-3) has no boiling point up to its decomposition starting at approx. 230°C at atmospheric pressure (1002 – 1006 hPa) as determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry and capillary method according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.2. and OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995).
