Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Executive summary:

According the CRC Handbook for Chemistry and Physics the boiling point of Tungsten (IV) oxide is 1730°C.

Description of key information

According to Annex VII section 7.3, Column 2 of regulation (EC) 1907/2006, this study does not need to be conducted for solids which either melt above 300°C or decompose before boiling. In such cases the boiling point under reduced pressure may be estimated or measured. Nevertheless the boiling point of tungsten dioxide is reported in the CRC handbook for Chemistry and Physics (92nd edition) to be 1730°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
1 730 °C
