Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition

seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition seek medical

advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain nitric oxides, carbon

oxidesas well as sulfur-, nickel- and sodium compounds.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and

impermeable gloves).

Solids: Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in

suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids: Absorb using an adequate absorbent (eg. kieselguhr,

sand, saw dust, kieselgel), collect and place in

suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste material in authorised incineration

facility.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

Avoid skin contact and war impermeable gloves. Since the

substance is handled as a powder, dust formation must be

avoided and, if necessary, adequate protection foreseen.

Dust-proof filling apparatus or appropriate exhaust system

should then be used.

Storage: The containers should be stored in tightly closed adequate

unbreakable containers in adequate rooms. Avoid rests of the

product outside the containers.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 25 Kg fiber drums

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: No dangerous reaction with water.

Dust explosion: Not to be expected if handled under good industrial hygiene

practices.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance binds irreversibly to aluminium so that

recovery of the substance from either the dyed aluminium or

from the remaining solution is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Discharge to a controlled site is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration at an authorised facility equipped

with waste gas treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and

sulfur is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Before discharge, the water from the dyeing process should

be heated to reduce the dyestuff concentrations by: 1)

Precipitation of the dyestuff with a trivalent iron or

aluminium salt followed by sedimentation or precipitation.

2) By absorption onto activated charcoal.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
