Description of key information

Acute LC50 Eisenia foetida: > 1000 mg/kg dry soil

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the substance to the earthworm Eisenia foetida was determined during a 14 day exposure period according to OECD/EC methods. A limit test at a concentration of 1000 mg/kg dry soil was conducted with the test substance mixed with silica sand and afterwards added to soil substrate. After 7 and 14 days the effects of the substance on the earthworms' survival were examined.

No mortality occurred at the tested concentration after 7 and 14 days. The 14 day LC50 of BTN/A to Eisenia foetida was observed to be > 1000 mg/kg dry soil.
