First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash out affected eye with water for at least 15 minutes.

Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and plenty of water. If

irritation occurs, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, dry chemical and carbon dioxide may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may include carbon and phosphorus

oxides and chlorine containing compounds.

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards, as

mentioned in section 2.3.10.

Avoid dust formation by damping down with water. Absorb

spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material (eg.

sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste

containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.

Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in

the same way as the original substance containers.

Clean the spillage area with water. Do not direct the

washings to the drain.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local

regulations by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard prEN374

Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard prEN166.

Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be

used, it must be capable of adequately controlling exposure,

be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the appropriate

international or national standards, such as a dust mask

conforming to EN149 FFP1.

These measures should be regarded as a minimum.

Storage: Store at ambient temperatures.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Do not breathe dust. Use personal protective equipment. Wear suitable protective clothing. Safety glasses. PVC or other plastic material gloves. Collect spillages. Remove all incompatible materials as quickly as possible.

Advice on safe handling and usage : Avoid dust formation. Avoide contact with hot surfaces. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Avoid any direct contact with the product. Do NOT handle without gloves. Do NOT handle if hands have any cuts or wounds.

Respiratory protection : In the case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter. Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143). Use a respirator with an approved filter if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.

Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.

Eye protection : Safety glasses with side-shields.

Skin and body protection : Boots and impervious clothing.

Hygiene measures : Emergency equipment immediately accessible, with instructions for use. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. Regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing. Use clean, well-maintained personal protection equipment. Store personal protection equipment in a clean location away from the work area. Keep working clothes separately. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Contaminated clothing must never be washed or reused. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Shower or bathe at the end of working. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Protective measures : The protective equipment must be selected in accordance with current CEN standards and in cooperation with the supplier of the protective equipment. Selection of appropriate personal protective equipment should be based on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the protective equipment relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the potential hazards and/or risks that may occur during use.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: There is a potential dust explosion hazard from this organic

powder.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from

minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically

or technically feasible, and such waste material will be

disposed of by incineration or landfill. In principle, it

may be possible to recover larger spillages of

uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is

harmful by oral ingestion, irritating to eyes and is a skin

sensitiser.

No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the

hazardous health properties.

The dust hazard will be neutralised by good industrial

hygiene.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with

inert material (eg. sand or soil) may be disposed of by

landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local

regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg. carbon and

phosphorus oxides and chlorine containing compounds) could

be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,

adverse effects  on sewage treatment systems would be

unlikely.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
