Description of key information

Flammability:
The flammability of a substance is determined following the method N.1 (UN-manual of testing) or A.10 (EU-method). In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not feasible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point.
Contact with water:
However, in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. The structural formula of the substance contains none of the functional groups quoted in Manual of Tests and Criteria, appendix 6, article 5.3).
Pyrophoric properties:
Pyrophoric properties are determined following the methods N.3 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.13 (EU-method). But in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically not necessary. During handling and use, no pyrophoric properties were observed and the structure does not give a reference to pyrophoric properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not yet classified in the Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC. According to the information summarized in this below, no classification on flammability is needed:

- As a liquid, the flammability is described by flash point. The flash point of the substance is >220 °C.

- No pyrophoric property, based on experience from production and handling;

- It does not ignite spontaneously with water and does not liberate flammable gases in hazardous amounts in contact with water.

Based on the data summarized above, the substance is also not flammable according to GHS (Regulation EC 1272/2008).
