Additional information:

Ethylbenzene has harmonized at EU level classifications and it is classified as a highly flammable (F; R11/ Flam. Liq. 2) liquid substance. Therefore, no further sensitisation properties testing is required for ethylbenzene.

No sensitisation effects of ethylbenzene were reported in experimental animals or in occupationally exposed workers. Based on the absence of human experience reports of allergy associated with occupational exposure to ethylbenzene, sensitisation is not likely to be associated with ethylbenzene exposure.

Ethylbenzene is industrial chemical to be used at industrial settings only with all applicable controls necessary to reduce occupational exposure. In general, appropriate engineering controls and work practices to reduce employee exposure to the lowest level achievable must be in place with additional suitable skin, eye, face and respiratory protection in work areas and operations with high risks of exposure to ethylbenzene.
