Upon systemic uptake Phosphoric acid, potassium salt (2:3), dihydrate (CAS No. 66922-99-4) will dissociate into PO4 -3 and K+ ions. These are abundant electrolytes in the mammalian organism, which are highly regulated by homeostatic mechanisms. The Joint FAO/WHO Expert committee defined a maximum tolerable daily intake of phosphates for all individuals at 70 mg P/kg bodyweight (JECFA, 1982). This value can be applied as no toxicity is attributable to the potassium cation.
