Dose range-finding study: 0 (negative control). 4.88, 19.5, 78.1, 313, 1250 and 5000 micrograms/plate.
Main study: 0 (negative control), 156, 313, 625, 1250, 2500 and 5000 micrograms/plate.
Vehicle / solvent:
- Vehicle/solvent used: DMSO
- Justification for choice of solvent/vehicle: Test substance was not soluble in distilled water (at 50 mg/l) but was soluble in DMSO (at 50mg/ml). A 50 mg/ml test substance solution with DMSO was prepared and determined to be stable (no change in colour or exothermic reaction).

True negative controls:
not specified
Positive controls:
yes
Positive control substance:
other: 2-Aminoanthracene (2AA); 2-(2-Furyl)-3-(5-nitro-2-furyl)acrylamide (AF-2); Sodium azide (NaN3); 2-Methoxy-6-chloro-9-[3-(2-chloroethyl)aminopropylamino]acridine.2HCl (ICR-191)
Details on test system and experimental conditions:
Plates were pre-incubated at 37 +/- 0.5 degrees C for 20 minutes and then incubated at 37 +/- 0.5 degrees C for 48 hours. Colonies were counted manually and mechanically (for plates where test material precipitation was observed, colonies were counted manually, otherwise plates were counted with a colony analyzer - CA-11D, System Science Ltd.).

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information):
negative

Under the conditions of this study, S-DHMN gave a negative response in S.typhimurium strains TA1535, TA1537, TA98 and TA100 and E.coli strain WP2uvrA in both the presence and absence of S9-mix.
