Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study must not be conducted if exposure to soil and sediment is unlikely.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No emission is expected because the monomer will be completely removed in the processes, therefore and according to column 2, annex IX the test can be waived. The waiving is based on exposure considerations.

Secondly, the logKoc indicates that no or minor partitioning will occur to the sediment/soil compartments. The equilibrium partitioning method is therefore used to derive the PNEC for sediment and soil. The log Kow also indicates low potential for bioaccumulation and biomagnification. The dataset for mammalian tox also is considered to be sufficient. The above mentioned reasons clearly indicate that waiving for this endpoint is appropriate
