A biodegradability study was conducted on the test material to assess its degradability by bacterial action. The study was conducted according to OECD test guideline 301C (Modified MITI Test), and in compliance with GLP.

A solution of the test material was incubated over 28 days with an inoculum prepared with activated sludge derived from sewage treatment plants, rivers, lakes and marine sources. Degradation was monitored by analysis of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). The concentrations of the test material and two hydrolysis products were also determined at the end of the test by chromatographic techniques.

At the end of the 28 -day study period, the test material was found to have been degraded 90% when calculated based on BOD, 97% in calculation based on Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), and 100% based on the results of the chromatographic determination of the test material.

It was concluded that the test material had been degraded by microorganisms under the conditions of the test.
