Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a reliable (reliability category 1) earthworm reproduction test performed compliant to GLP no statistically significant effects on mortality, biomass or reproduction of Eisenia fetida were observed up to the highest tested concentration. Thus, no EC10 or EC50 could be determined and the NOEC (56 d; mortality, biomass, reproduction) is larger or equal to 1000 mg/kg soil dw.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

To assess possible terrestrial toxicity of the submission substance, chronic effects on mortality, biomass and the reproductive potential of the earthworm species Eisenia fetida (Savigny) were determined in a 8-week study compliant to GLP according to OECD 222 (2004; RL 1). In a static design, 5 concentrations (62.5 to 1000 mg/kg soil dw) with 4 replicates, each, together with 8 control replicates were assessed. The sexually mature earthworms had an initial individual body weight ranging between 0.30 and 0.52 g. Overall, the NOEC of the submission substance concerning mortality, biomass and reproduction of earthworms was determined to be equal or larger than 1000 mg/kg soil dry weight. All validity criteria recommended by the test guidelines were fulfilled.
