Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The flash point of the test material is recorded as being between 27ºC or  300.15 K, as citied in Hawley (1977).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
27 °C

Additional information

The flash point of the test material has addressed by providing one key study and five supporting studies.

Hawley (1977) reports the flash point to be 81 °F or 27 °C. The data originate from a peer reviewed handbook, quoting physical data as found in the literature and has thus been assigned a reliability score of 2 using the principles for assessing data quality as set out in Klimisch (1977).

Four safety data sheets [TCI Europe (2010), Alfa Aesar (2007), Sigma Aldrich (2012) and Chemical Book (2012)] and an internet source [Chemical book product property (accessed 2012)] have also been provided as supporting data. The sources all report the flash point to be either 24 or 27 °C. They have all been assigned a reliability score of 4 according to Klimisch (1977) as it is not possible to assess the accuracy of the data from the limited information they provide. However there is sufficient consistency between these sources to contribute as supporting data and validate the conclusion.

Based on the available data and its respective reliability the flash point is concluded to be 27 °C.
