First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If signs/symptoms develop, get

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at

least 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Immediately flush

skin with large amounts of water. Get medical

attention. Wash contaminated clothing and clean shoes before

reuse.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give victim two glasses of water.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get

immediate medical attention.

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use fire extinguishers with class B extinguishing agents

(e.g., dry chemical, carbon dioxide).

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Observe precautions from other sections. Call 3M- HELPS line

(1-800-364-3577) for more information on handling and

managing the spill. Evacuate unprotected and untrained

personnel from hazard area. The spill should be cleaned up

by qualified personnel. Ventilate the area with fresh air.

For large spill, or spills in confined spaces, provide

mechanical ventilation to disperse or exhaust vapors, in

accordance with good industrial hygiene practice. Warning! A

motor could be an ignition source and could cause flammable

gases or vapors in the spill area to burn or explode.

Contain spill. For larger spills, cover drains

and build dikes to prevent entry into sewer systems or

bodies of water. Working from around the edges of the spill

inward, cover with bentonite, vermiculite, or commercially

available inorganic absorbent material. Mix in sufficient

absorbent until it appears dry.

Collect as much of the spilled material as possible. Clean

up residue with water. Place in a metal container approved

for transportation by appropriate authorities. Seal the

container. Dispose of collected material as soon as

possible.

Handling and storage

Handling: Do not breathe thermal decomposition products. Avoid

breathing of vapors, mists or spray. For industrial or

professional use only.

Storage: Store away from acids. Keep container in well-ventilated

area.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Product will be packaged in HDPE containers (typically

100mL, 4L, and 20L sizes).  Product can be safely packaged

in glass containers as well. Formulated etching & cleaning

solutions will be packaged in high density polyethylene

containers up to 55 gallons.

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: 621 Precipitation followed by filtration.

Precipitation followed by filtration may be possible for

concentrated solutions but would not likely be effective for

the highly dilute solutions that would result from the

spent solutions described in this notification. Due to it's

high water solubility it is unlikely that the salt would

have much affinity to the common sorption beds used.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable. Treatment by strong acid would likely cause

dissociation to the parent fluorosulfonamide and NH3.  The

parent sulfonamide is less water soluble but is still

soluble in the ppm range and would likely pass through a

carbon bed or other precipitation or adsorption bed.
