Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Laser Light Scattering. The particle size distribution of powder sample was analysed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool, which used the technique of Laser Diffraction to measure the size of particles. It does this by measuring the intensity of Light Scattered as a Laser beam passes through a dispersed particulate sample. This data is then analysed to calculate the size of the particles that created the scattering pattern.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

The particle size distribution of powder sample was analysed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool, which used the technique of Laser Diffraction to measure the size of particles. It does this by measuring the intensity of Light Scattered as a Laser beam passes through a dispersed particulate sample. This data is then analysed to calculate the size of the particles that created the scattering pattern. The results are as follows:

  • D10 = 5.799µm
  • D50 = 26.408µm
  • D90 = 73.768µm
