Any other information on results incl. tables

Two replicate DSC analyses were performed and provided the following results:

1: 344.8

2: 345.5

Mean value: 345.2.

The shape of the DSC curves indicates that the test material has a boiling point and a decomposition simultaneously occurring. The endothermic peaks are broad with erratic behavior. This is an indication of onset of boil followed directly by decomposition. Decomposition is confirmed by analyzing the test substance at four different heating rates (Thermogravimetric analysis - TGA) and observing a different onset each time. Boiling point is a first order reaction independent of heating rate. If the thermal event was a boiling point, the onset temperature would be consistent.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test substance decomposes upon boiling at 345.2°C.
Executive summary:

In this study the boiling point of Trihexyltetradecylphosphonium chloride was measured by DSC analysis. This analysis was followed by a TGA to show that the substance does not undergo boiling but decomposes from 345.2 °C.
