Description of key information

The study does not need to be conducted. Butyl benzoate is an ester of benzoic acid. It is neither an acid or a base, it is an ester. Upon hydrolysis of the ester that is butyl benzoate, the hydrolysis products will be butanol (an alcohol) and benzoic acid (an organic acid). Benzoic acid has a pKa or acid dissociation constant of 4.2 (Source: https://www2.chemistry.msu.edu/faculty/reusch/virttxtjml/acidity2.htm) however that is not the requested endpoint in this case.
Definition: An acid dissociation constant (Ka) is a quantitative measure of the strength of an acid in solution.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
