Description of key information

The test material is a light yellow liquid. The test item was found to have no melting point down to a temperature of 100 °C and boiling point of 108 °C at atmospheric pressure. The relative density of the test item is 0.891 at 20°C, relative to water at 4°C. The test item was found to have a vapour pressure of 41.9 hPa at 20°C, a water solubility of 111 mg/L at 20.0°C and. Since the substance is an UVCB multiple log Kow values are reported ranging from 0.759 to 5.48 at 22.5°C, with 4.37 for the first main signal and 4.63 for the second main signal.

The flash point at atmospheric pressure is 17 °C and auto-ignition is observed at a temperature of 260°C.

The test substance does not contain functional groups which are associated with explosive or oxidising properties. Moreover, based on the chemical structure surface activity is not expected.

The substance needs to be classified for physical hazards: Highly flammable liquid of category 2 since the flash point is below the cut-off value for classification being 23°C.
