Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
readily biodegradable, but failing 10-day window
Conclusions:
As the results calculated from BOD, the test article degradability was 68%, 78% and 74%
(average 73%).
As the results calculated from DOC, the test article degradability was 100%, 97% and 98%
(average 98%).
By HPLC method, the test article detectable at the end of test period,
the degradability of test article was all 100%.
Based on the above results, it was concluded that test article, trehalose, is ready biodegradable
under the conditions specified by Test methods for new chemical substances –
Biodegradability test of chemical substances by microorganisms, etc.” specified in “Kan-Ho-gyo
No. 5”, “Yaku-Hatsu No. 615” and “49Ki-Kyoku No. 392” issued in1972.
