Description of key information

Setalux 7002 BX-55 was evaluated for its ready biodegradability in an aerobic, aqueous inoculated medium; CO2 in sealed vessels (Headspace Test).

The relative biodegradation values calculated from the measurements performed during the test period revealed 21% biodegradation of Setalux 7002 BX-55 (mean value). Thus, the criterion for ready biodegradability was not met.

In the toxicity control more than 25% biodegradation occurred within 14 days (29%, based on ThIC). Therefore, the test item was assumed not to inhibit microbial activity.

In the abiotic control no abiotic degradation of Setalux 7002 BX-55 was observed.

Since all acceptability criteria of the test were met, this study was considered to be valid.

In conclusion, Setalux 7002 BX-55 is designated as not readily biodegradable.
