Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flash point was determined according to a scientifically valid method, i.e. EU method A.9 under GLP, in a well-documented study, hence, the following result for the test material can be considered as reliable: The measured flash point is 112.0 ± 1.0 °C. No classification as flammable liquid is triggered.
Executive summary:

The flash point of 2-(1-methylpiperidin-2yl) ethanol, (MPA) was determined according to EU method A.9 under GLP, using the non-equilibrium method with closed cup.

First, a safety test was performed: approx. 3 mL of the test item was heated in a test tube in an aluminium block with a heating plate, Formation of bubbles was observed at approx.131 °C. The appearance had not changed and no signs of polymerization after cooling down were observed.

Then, a pre-test and a main test with two experiments were performed using a flashpoint tester.

The flashpoint of 2-(1-methylpiperidin-2yl) ethanol, (MPA) is stated as 112.0 ± 1.0 °C (corresponding to 385.2 ± 1.0 K).

This value is the mean value of two independent determinations.
