Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
01.02.- 08.02.2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids))
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Based on earlier studies the test substance was not dried. The reason is that the test substance contents high hydrophilic sulfonate salts that rapidly bind air humidity.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Contact with:
powdered cellulose
Duration of test (contact time):
300 s
Sample tested:
reference mixture as specified
Parameter:
maximum burning rate
Result:
1.1 mm/s
Key result
Sample tested:
test mixture (not specified)
Parameter:
burning rate
Remarks on result:
not determinable

The reaction zones of all mixtures propagated over an initial distance of 30 mm, but none consumed all distance of the pile (200 mm) during 5 minutes of burning.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Based on results obtained from train test, it is obvious that none of the test substance mixtures with cellulose burned all distance of 200 mm of the pile. Thus test substance, Acid Black 227, shouldn´t be considered as a substance with oxidizing properties.
Executive summary:

The oxidizing properties of test substance, Acid Black 227, were determined.

The procedure was performed according to the Method A.17 Oxidizing properties (Solids), Council Regulation (EC) No.440/2008, published in O.J. L 142, 2008.
