Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

Not oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

In accordance with EC Regulation No. 440/2008 annex VII, the study was not conducted as on the basis of the chemical structure the substance was assumed as incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials. According to the REACH regulation this applies to organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen.

In accordance with the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods / Manual of Tests and Criteria (ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.5) the study was not conducted as on the basis of the chemical structure oxidizing properties could be excluded. According to appendix 6 of the aforementioned UN Manual this is valid for organic compounds not containing oxygen or halogen atoms or where those are only bonded to carbon or hydrogen.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on oxidising properties of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: Based on the chemical structure the substance is not oxidising.
