Description of key information

The vapour pressure of 1,6-Hexanediol dimethacrylate was calculated with EPIWIN (modified grain method). The vapour pressure was: 0.64 Pa at 25°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0.64 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The vapour pressure of 1,6-Hexanediol dimethacrylate was calculated with EPIWIN. The vapour pressure was: 0.64 Pa (modified grain method) at 25°C. (Evonik Industries AG, 2014)

The result of the experimental determination of the vapour pressure is 2 to 3 orders of magnitudes higher than the vapour pressure value calculated with EPIWIN and is an outlier with regards to vapour pressure values of the structurally related category member substances of this group (please see category document of multifuctional methacrylates category). Therefore the measured vapour pressure value of 4.1 hPa at 20 °C for 1,6-Hexanedioldimethacrylate is regared as invalid based on structure-activity considerations and the calculated value is used in the assessment. The vapour pressure values of related muldifunctional methacrylates fall into a range of 0.1 to 1 Pa.
